There are 2 types of discoloration on the teeth.

2-External staining: These are the colorations that adhere to the tooth surface from some foods, cigarettes, tea and coffee staining substances. How is the bleaching process done?

Whitening is the process of removing the discoloration that occurs in the structure of the teeth. There are two different teeth whitening methods currently known. The first of these is a method that the patient can apply on his own, the stages are as follows:

  • Physician to take measurements from the mouth and prepare thin rubber molds that you can put on your teeth,
  • The patient places a medicine in a special mold prepared for him and wears this mold on the teeth to be whitened for at least 6 - 8 hours a day (preferably asleep),
  • Termination of treatment in an average of 1 – 4 weeks. The second method is whitening performed by a physician in the clinic, which is applied as follows:
  • The bleaching agent is placed on the tooth by a physician experienced in this procedure.
  • A white light source is kept on the relevant tooth for a certain period of time.

Teeth whitened with different bleaching methods stay white for a few years. But this time varies from person to person. Eating and drinking habits, smoking and brushing habits affect the whiteness of the teeth.

It should be noted that bleaching may not always provide the whiteness you want. The whitening rate depends on the tone of your teeth before the whitening process and varies from person to person. Therefore, you should discuss your expectations with your dentist in advance.
